How do I get my name on the waitlist?
Send an email to pinestreetcommunitygardens@gmail.com and request that your name be put on the waitlist. We are constantly updating the list and will add your name upon receipt of your email. Please keep in mind that there is a huge demand for community gardens plots in Vancouver so if you already have a plot somewhere else, we would prefer that you didn't apply for a plot here as well.

How do I know if I am on the waitlist?
If you received the autoreply message after you sent an email to pinestreetcommunitygardens@gmail.com requesting to be put on the waitlist, then you are done. We receive too many requests to reply to each person individually. So, unless you hear otherwise, you are on the waitlist and you will be contacted once a plot is available for you. If you wish to know where you are on the waitlist you can send an email asking us, but please note that it might take us some time to answer such requests.

How long is the wait list?
As of August 2009 the waitlist was over 70 people long. Only a few plots become available each year, so if your name was only recently added to the list, it is safe to say that it will be several years before we have a plot for you. We suggest getting in touch with other community gardens in your neighbourhood or starting your own new community garden. Check out the SPEC website for more info on how you can get a garden plot. The SPEC website lists all of the community gardens in Vancouver, provides step by step advice on how to start your own community garden (see Growing Gardens manual) and provides advice on how to share a back yard space.

How do I renew my membership?
In late winter or early spring you will receive an email or phone call to let you know when the next season's member fee is due. You should then send a cheque to our mailing address (see above) or arrange to pay cash to a board member no later than the due date. It is very important that the contact information you provided us remains current. If we can not get in touch with you and do not receive payment before the deadline, you will lose your plot.
The fee payment deadline for the 2010 season will be announced in January 2010.
